Beekeeping workshop this Saturday (July 30)

Long-time area beekeeper Jon Camp will talk about the joys and challenges of keeping bees in New Hampshire this Saturday morning, July 30, 2011.

Jon’s talk will begin at 10:30 a.m. and run until noon.  Come with questions.

Cost for this event is $5, children 12 and under, $3, payable at the door. Please pre-register so we”ll know how many to expect.

If the weather – and the bees – cooperate, we’ll be opening Paul’s beehives.  One is a traditional Langstroth, named after the Midwesterner who revolutionized beekeeping in the 1800s with his invention of the removable frame.  The other is a “Kenyan” top bar hive, a single-story do-it-yourself hive that can be built from scrap lumber.
