Planning Your Vegetable Garden with Roger Swain

Roger Swain, “the man with the red suspenders” hosted The Victory Garden on PBS television for many years. On April 29, he will present a workshop at Amazing Flower Farm on Planning Your Vegetable Garden. Roger will talk about easy, low-maintenance ways to water, control weeds, and deal with insects, as well as all-important topics such as soil preparation and sun exposure.

The workshop, titled “Planning Your Vegetable Garden with Roger Swain,” will begin at 10:30 and will touch on everything from soil preparation and garden location to pest management.

Roger Swain, a noted horticulturalist who is widely known as the host of the PBS television show “The Victory Garden,” will be telling area gardeners how to get the most out of the coming growing season at a talk at Amazing Flower Farm on Saturday, April 29.

“Season extension and weed control will be foremost,” Swain said. But he also guarantees enough time for audience members to get their questions answered.

“We’re thrilled with the relationship we’ve developed with Roger,” said Ara Lynn, Amazing Flower Farm owner. ““I’m looking forward to hearing his ideas for the growing season.”

A Harvard graduate, Swain has a Ph.D. in biology and has written five books. Besides hosting The Victory Garden for just over 20 years, he has been co-host of HGTV’s People, Places and Plants.
